Configuring the IP Settings of the Project

When setting up a network with unconfigured devices or after scanning an existing network, the identity and IP settings of the project have to be specified (consisting of IP address, subnet mask and gateway settings). The project IP settings are the basis for the IP settings of all devices involved in the project because the individual device IP settings must be within these project specifications.

  1. Double-click the 'Project' node in the PLANT.
  2. Open the 'Settings' editor and select the 'Ip subnet' category.
  3. If desired, define the 'Identity' by entering the optional 'Network name' and 'Top-level domain' name.
  4. Specify the 'IP range' settings.

Each inserted controller or Profinet device automatically gets an IP address within the IP range specified for the project.

If, for example, no IP address is free in the specified IP range on device insertion or if the range is exceeded by modifying an IP address, a corresponding error message appears in the Error List (MESSAGES window). In this case, you have to adjust the IP range of the project or the exceeding device IP address.
