S_OSSD_In input

State-controlled input for the status of the connected safety-related sensor.
This input processes the status signal of the safety-related sensor (normal operation, test or request for the safety-related function). The signal present must be SAFETRUE so that the safety-related S_OSSD_Out output can be switched to SAFETRUE.

Data type: SAFEBOOL
Initial value: SAFEFALSE

Connection: Connect this input to the signal of a safety-related sensor (ESPE type 2) connected to the Sicherheitssteuerung, either directly or via additional safety-related functions/function blocks. Constant SAFETRUE or SAFEFALSE values are not permitted.

If the function block is activated (input Activate = TRUE), the possible values at this input lead to the following function block behavior:

ValueDescription
SAFETRUEThe light beam of the safety-related sensor is not interrupted.

Refer to the warning below this table.

The safety-related sensor is in normal operation, which means that no tests are active and the safety-related function has not been requested.
The S_OSSD_Out output is switched to SAFETRUE provided that the function block has not detected any errors.
SAFEFALSEThe safety-related sensor is either in the process of performing a test or the light beam of the safety-related sensor is interrupted.
The SAFEFALSE value can also indicate that a safety-related sensor is either disabled or inoperable.

If no start-up inhibit is specified for the function block, the SAFETRUE status at the S_OSSD_In input can cause the S_OSSD_Out output to immediately switch to SAFETRUE.

WARNUNG
Unintended start-up

If no start-up inhibit is specified:
  • Be sure that your risk analysis includes an evaluation for the state change at the S_OSSD_Out output after applying SAFETRUE to the S_OSSD_In input.
  • Make certain that appropriate procedures and measures (according to applicable sector standards) have been established to help avoid hazardous situations when applying SAFETRUE to the S_OSSD_In input.
  • Use appropriate safety interlocks where personnel and/or equipment hazards exist.
