'Device List' Editor (Profinet Controller)

The following information refers to a specific, typical device type. Your screen may differ.

This help topic describes the 'Device List' editor of the 'Profinet' PLANT node (which represents the Profinet Controller). The 'Device List' is also referred to as station editor. This tabular editor contains all devices which have been scanned or added under the 'Profinet' node.

You can add Profinet devices here by clicking on an empty row into the 'Type' field and selecting a device using the role picker. Alternatively, you can scan the network for Profinet devices.

ColumnDescription
#Number of the Profinet device in the network.
The number of lines (i.e., connectable devices) in the table depends on the controller type (that is to say, on the number of connectable Profinet devices the controller supports).
TypeType of the already inserted Profinet device.

To add a further device, left-click into a field showing the text 'Select type here' or move the table cursor using the arrow keys to this table field and press <Enter>. The Role Picker appears for selecting devices.

The 'Function' text is shown in the device node name (preceding the type) in the PLANT.

LocationInstallation location of a device appropriate to the Profinet specification. The parameter is still available after a firmware update.

If no 'Function' is specified, the 'Location' text is visible in the tree.

Max. string length: 32 characters
Name of stationDevice name.
IP addressIndicates the IP address of the device.
After inserting a new device, the address has automatically been assigned on insertion: by default, the device gets the first free address within the IP range specified in the project settings.

Note
If no IP address is free in the specified IP range and the range is exceeded by inserting a new device, the table line is colored red and no IP address is assigned. In this case, modify the 'IP Range' setting ('Project' node | 'Settings' editor).

Further Info
