Measuring Distances
The measure function provided in the LOGIC ANALYZER allows you to measure horizontal and vertical distances between two datapoints along a recorded curve. You can make as many measurements as you want and for any curve. The measured distances are displayed in the legend on the left as shown in the following example and also in the tooltip when you hover the mouse over a distance.
Note
The distance measurements are saved within the PLCnext Engineer project and automatically loaded when you reopen the project. |
Measuring a distance
To measure a distance:
- Left-click on a datapoint of a curve to add a marker. The marker is the startpoint of the measurement.
- Left-click on another datapoint to add another marker (endpoint of the measurement).
Once the endpoint is added, the distance measurement and its values are shown in the legend on the left under the corresponding recorded value/variable (as shown in the example above) and also in the tooltip of the distance. Each time you do a new measurement, the legend is automatically updated.
For any measurement the legend shows the following values:
Note
The format of the time values displayed in the legend depends on the time-axis label activated in the LOGIC ANALYZER toolbar. Using the following toolbar buttons, you can display the time values as absolute or relative time values or as number of samples collected from the start of recording (see the description of the buttons in the "LOGIC ANALYZER Toolbar" topic). ![]() |
Editing distance measurements
You can perform the following operations on existing measurements:
Operation | Procedure |
---|---|
Removing a distance with associated markers | In the diagram, right-click on the distance or a marker belonging to the distance to be removed. Alternatively, click the Remove button right of the corresponding distance in the legend. |
Moving a marker | Left-click on the marker and drag it while pressing the left mouse button. |
Copying the distance values to the clipboard | Click the Copy button right of the distance in the legend. The distance values are copied as XML snippet to the clipboard. |
