Dynamics Reference

The dynamics (standard dynamics and action dynamics) described in the topics listed below can be added to a single object, an object group or an image selected in the HMI page using the properties window.

A standard dynamic (hereafter called "dynamic") is always linked to an HMI tag or an expression. It defines how the position and appearance of an object changes depending on the value of the variable that is assigned to the HMI tag or the evaluation result of the expression.

An action dynamic (hereafter called "action") defines what should be performed when the object is selected or activated by clicking it with the mouse. An action can be linked to an HMI tag (and therefore to a variable) or another HMI page. By linking, for example, an action to an HMI tag, the variable assigned to the HMI tag can be written on selection or on activation of the object.

Note
Regarding their use in HMI pages, the following applies to variables of the Safety PLC:
  • Safety-related IEC 61131-3 variables cannot be used in an HMI page as no HMI tags can be created and assigned to variables of a safety-related data type in the Safety PLC Data List.
  • It is possible to create HMI tags for exchange variables, i.e., for Safety PLC variables of a standard data type which are assigned to a global variable of the standard PLC.

Which dynamics and actions can be added depends on the selected object. An object can have several dynamics and actions of different types assigned. However, there is only one dynamic or action of the same type allowed for an object.

Note
A dynamic can be disabled by deactivating the 'Enabled' checkbox of the dynamic. If deactivated, the dynamic has no effect in the HMI application. Disabling a dynamic may be useful for testing and debugging.
